もう２年前くらいに出た作品だけど、全く色あせないマーシャル・フォークの名盤です。

An epic release hailing from the majestic Alps via Steinklang Industries this time instead of War Office Propaganda which happens to be Cold Fusion’s own label operated by Marcin Bachtiak and Robert Marciniak which have been instrumental in bringing us releases by Mushroom's Patience, Belborn & Rose Rovine e Amanti, Toroidh, and many others and for in house martial mastery by Robert Marciniak you need not look any further than Rukkanor for some heavy and dark ambient goodness.

Not short on the dramatic here, this particular piece is being narrated by bombastic timpani and rolling percussion with a thunderous chorus of dissonant voices ride alongside the juggernaut of war amidst crashing cymbals and the passing of time to a peak of madness as the masses are in their final throes. Not surprisingly there is certain atmosphere of melancholia pervading throughout with a degree of uneasiness and solemnity as the bell tolls for those people who have been conquered or whose lands have been occupied from without or destroyed from within.

This is an epic raging performance of remembrance or even a monument to those that have gone before, while at times approaching world music yet at others there is a certain call to arms martial fare here conjuring up such powerful emotions and imagery of a people and a nation of the dispossessed, stifling oppression, war and above all survival, This release executes all of these themes and emotions bravely without losing any sentiment along the way yet retaining a stern sense of beauty.

Erstwhile voices and bombastic percussion with military-like precision give this work a definitive haunting quality or the impression that this is a piece of work taken from the pages of our history books, the difference is only that this tale is being told by those that have been conquered, this is their time to be heard, granted the subject matter here is Carthage which has long ago since burnt and it’s inhabitants murdered, displaced and or sold into slavery, the overall themes of occupation and fatherland or the loss of one’s own homeland are evidently just as relevant today, and for some cultures all too relevant.

秘教的な歌詞やムードはそのままですが、従来よりもロック寄りの作品になっています。
デヴィッド・ティベットのヴォーカルの多彩な表現とバックの17人にもおよぶミュージシャンが作り上げるのはいつもの黙示録的世界なのですが、よりアグレッシブなものになっていますね。
大きな音で聴きましょう。
